Osortoo allows you to filter duplicate tags to keep your giveaway organized and ensure fair participation. Duplicate tags happen when users mention the same person multiple times in their comments, especially in tag-based giveaways.
The duplicate tag filter helps remove repeated tags while keeping each participant eligible only once.
1. What the Duplicate Tag Filter Does
The filter removes repeated mentions of the same tagged user from the same participant.
This helps:
- avoid inflated chances
- simplify the participant list
- clean up repeated entries
- enforce “one tag = one entry” rules
Duplicates are removed, but the participant remains in the draw.
2. Where to find the duplicate tag filter
- Open your giveaway project
- Go to the Filters section
- Select Duplicate Tags or Remove Duplicate Mentions
- Apply the filter
Osortoo updates the comment list immediately.
3. What the filter considers a duplicate
A tag is considered a duplicate when:
- the same username is mentioned more than once
- the same user posts multiple comments tagging the same person
- copy-paste tag comments are repeated
Each tagged user is counted only once per participant after filtering.
4. Examples
Example 1 – Same tag repeated in one comment
Comment:
“@anna @anna @anna”
After filter:
“@anna”
Example 2 – Same tag repeated across multiple comments
Comments:
“@mark check this out”
“@mark this is my entry”
After filter:
Only one @mark mention is counted.
Example 3 – Unique tags kept
Comment:
“@leo @sara @mark”
All tags are unique → nothing is removed.
5. How the filter affects the draw
Applying the duplicate tag filter:
- reduces repeated mentions
- keeps only unique tags
- keeps the user eligible according to the giveaway rules
- updates the final number of entries
Duplicate tags do not give extra chances once the filter is applied.
6. Can I combine duplicate tag filtering with other filters?
Yes, you can combine it with:
- duplicate comment removal
- keyword filters
- date/time filters
- user exclusion
- minimum @mentions rules
- “one entry per user” filters
Osortoo applies all filters in the order you choose.
7. Limitations
- The filter depends on the platform’s tag detection
- Deleted or hidden comments cannot be filtered
- Tags in broken or altered formats may not be recognized
These limitations come from platform rules and data provided by the API.
8. When to use the duplicate tag filter
Use it when you want to:
- prevent users from tagging the same friend many times
- enforce fairness in tag-to-enter giveaways
- clean up spammy or repetitive tag entries
- simplify your participant list before picking a winner
9. When to contact support
Contact support if:
- tags are not detected
- duplicates remain after filtering
- the filter does not respond
Include:
- your account email
- your giveaway link
- a screenshot of the issue
