“You have Not Selected an Instagram Account”

This message appears when Instagram is not selected correctly during the login process.
Most users select Instagram directly, but Instagram can only be connected through the Facebook Page that is linked to it.
You must select the Facebook Page first, then the Instagram account connected to that Page.

Follow the steps below to complete the connection.

Why this error appears

Instagram does not provide direct access to third-party applications.
All Instagram permissions go through Facebook’s system, and Instagram only becomes available after the connected Facebook Page is selected.

You will see the error “You have not selected an Instagram account” when:

  • the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account was not selected
  • you skipped the Facebook Page step
  • your Instagram account is not a Professional account
  • your Instagram account is not linked to any Facebook Page

In most cases, the issue comes from selecting Instagram before selecting the Facebook Page.

How to fix the issue

Step 1 — Make sure your Instagram account is Professional

Instagram must be:

  • Business
  • Creator

If it is personal, Instagram will not appear.

Check this in Instagram:
Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account

Step 2 — Confirm your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page

This is required by Instagram’s API.

To verify:

  1. Open Instagram
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Open Account
  4. Select Sharing to other apps
  5. Choose Facebook
  6. Make sure a Facebook Page is selected (not your personal profile)

If no Page appears, link one before continuing.

Step 3 — Log in through Facebook, not Instagram

When connecting in Osortoo, use the Facebook login button.

Instagram only appears after Facebook has loaded the list of Pages.

Step 4 — Select the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram

During the login flow, Facebook will show a list of all the Pages you manage.

Select the specific Page that is linked to your Instagram account.

This step unlocks the Instagram options.

Step 5 — After selecting the Facebook Page, select the Instagram account

Once the Facebook Page is selected, Facebook loads the Instagram accounts connected to it.

You will then see your Instagram account in the list.

Select it to complete the connection.

This two-step process looks like this:

  1. Select Facebook Page
  2. Select Instagram Account

If you skip the Facebook Page, the Instagram list stays empty, and the error appears.

Common mistakes that trigger the error

  • Trying to log in with Instagram only
  • Not selecting the Facebook Page first
  • Linking Instagram to a personal Facebook profile instead of a Page
  • Not having Admin rights on the Facebook Page
  • Using a personal Instagram account

Make sure all conditions are met before connecting.
