If Osortoo does not display all the comments from your Instagram post, the issue usually comes from the Instagram–Facebook connection, user privacy restrictions, API limitations, or the comment type.
Several conditions must be met for Osortoo to retrieve every comment.
Follow the steps below to understand why some comments may be missing and how to fix the issue.
1. Your Instagram account may not be properly linked to a Facebook Page
Osortoo retrieves Instagram comments through Facebook’s API.
If the link is missing or incorrect, Osortoo will only retrieve partial data or no data at all.
How to fix
Verify the link here:
Instagram → Settings → Account → Sharing to other apps → Facebook
Make sure:
- your Instagram is Professional (Business or Creator)
- it is linked to a Facebook Page, not to a personal profile
- you are Admin of the Page
If the wrong Page is linked, reconnect it.
2. You did not select the correct Facebook Page during login
Instagram comments only load when you select the specific Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account during the Facebook login flow.
If you skip this Page or select the wrong one, comments will be missing or incomplete.
How to fix
Reconnect your account:
- Remove Osortoo from facebook.com/settings → Business Integrations
- Log in to Osortoo again
- Select the correct Facebook Page first
- Then select the Instagram account linked to that Page
This ensures the correct comment retrieval permissions.
3. Comments from private or restricted users cannot be retrieved
Some users’ comments may not appear because of their privacy settings.
Instagram does not allow third-party apps to access comments from:
- private accounts with the highest privacy settings
- users who restricted external data sharing
- users who blocked your Page or Instagram account
- users who are under age-based restrictions
These comments will not show in Osortoo.
4. Replies (threaded comments) may not appear
Instagram separates:
- main comments
- comment replies
Some replies may be hidden due to API limitations or user privacy restrictions.
Osortoo retrieves the main comments consistently.
Replies may appear depending on Instagram’s permissions and privacy settings of each user involved.
5. Comments containing certain elements may not load
Instagram sometimes restricts comments that include:
- banned keywords
- restricted hashtags
- sensitive content
- particular combinations of tags/mentions
These comments can be hidden automatically by Instagram and may not appear in Osortoo.
6. The post type may not be fully supported
Osortoo reliably retrieves comments from:
- standard feed posts
- image posts
- carousel posts
- video posts
Comments may not load from:
- stories
- reels with limited API access
- promoted Reels
- deleted or archived posts
- edited posts that recently changed visibility
Check your post type to confirm eligibility.
7. Recent comments may take time to appear
Instagram sometimes delays comment availability in its API, especially:
- when comments were posted very recently
- when the post receives high engagement
- when many comments are posted at the same time
Fix
Wait 2–10 minutes and refresh the import.
8. Facebook permissions may be incomplete
If any permission was skipped, removed, or changed, Osortoo cannot access all comments.
Reset permissions
- Visit facebook.com/settings → Business Integrations
- Remove Osortoo
- Reconnect from Osortoo
- Accept all permissions
This is one of the most effective fixes.
9. Browser extensions or settings may block data loading
Sometimes comments appear incomplete because the loading stops prematurely.
Disable or avoid:
- ad blockers
- privacy extensions
- VPNs
- script blockers
Try using:
- Chrome (recommended)
- an incognito window
- another browser
Summary
Osortoo does not retrieve all Instagram comments when Instagram, Facebook, privacy settings, or API limitations block access. To fix the issue:
- Confirm that Instagram is Professional
- Verify it is linked to the correct Facebook Page
- Reconnect Facebook and select the right Page first
- Accept all permissions
- Check for private or restricted users
- Make sure the post type is eligible
- Wait for late comments to sync
- Disable interfering browser extensions
Once these conditions are met, Osortoo retrieves the maximum number of comments allowed by Instagram.
