Known Limitations

Osortoo relies on the official APIs of Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. These platforms control what data can be accessed, how often it can be requested, and which comments or posts are eligible.
Because of these rules, certain limitations exist. These limitations apply to all third-party giveaway tools and come directly from the social platforms.

The sections below list every known limitation so you know exactly what to expect when using Osortoo.

1. Deleted comments cannot be retrieved

When a user deletes a comment, the platform keeps it in the public counter, but the API does not return it.
Osortoo cannot access:

  • deleted comments
  • edited comments that were changed drastically

These comments never appear in exports.

2. Comments from private or restricted accounts are inaccessible

Platforms protect data from private or restricted users.

Osortoo cannot retrieve comments from:

  • private Instagram accounts
  • blocked or restricted profiles
  • users with age/country restrictions
  • accounts flagged or under review

These comments appear in the public count but do not appear in the export.

3. Replies to comments are not always accessible

Some platforms separate main comments from replies.

Limitations:

  • replies may not load for some Instagram posts
  • Facebook replies may require additional permissions
  • certain reply chains are blocked by the API

Only accessible replies appear in Osortoo.

4. Comments under review are hidden

Platforms filter comments automatically when they suspect:

  • spam
  • offensive language
  • suspicious activity
  • duplicated behaviour

These comments remain visible on the platform but are never sent through the API.

5. Some post types have restricted access

Certain content formats limit how comments can be retrieved.

Examples:

  • Instagram Reels with restricted API access
  • boosted Facebook posts with limited permissions
  • edited posts
  • restricted YouTube videos
  • YouTube videos marked “Made for Kids”

Osortoo can import only what the platform allows.

6. Platform rate limits slow down or block imports

Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube limit how many requests can be made.

Effects:

  • slow imports
  • partial data
  • temporary API errors
  • giveaway stuck “In Progress”

These limits reset automatically after a short time.

7. Instagram must be linked to a Facebook Page

Instagram comments cannot be imported if:

  • the IG account is not Professional
  • the IG account is not linked to a Facebook Page
  • the Page is not selected during connection

This is a platform requirement.

8. Personal Instagram accounts are unsupported

Osortoo cannot import from personal Instagram accounts.
Instagram requires a Business or Creator account to access comments.

9. Only Admins can access Page comments

If you are not an Admin of the Facebook Page, the API will block access.

Editor, Moderator, or Custom roles are not enough.

10. Very recent comments may take time to appear

The platforms sometimes take minutes to validate and send new comments.

Effect:

  • newest comments missing temporarily

Refreshing after a few minutes usually resolves it.

11. Export size depends on your planLarge giveaways with very high comment numbers may require higher plans.

Limitations vary by plan, especially for:

  • maximum export size
  • video generation
  • mixed platform data

12. VPNs, blockers, and extensions can disturb API connections

Extensions may break the login flow or block the API response.
Osortoo cannot bypass browser-level restrictions.

13. Osortoo cannot modify or fix platform issues

If Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube experience outages, slowdowns, or API bugs, Osortoo must wait for the platform to stabilize.
